Meet Megan

Hi, I’m Megan (she/her)! I’m a therapist with a PhD and an LCSW, and I bring together clinical practice, creativity, and research to help people feel more connected to themselves and their lives. I primarily offer in-person therapy sessions and typically work with children, adolescents, and young adults (ages 8-30). My work is grounded in the belief that healing doesn’t happen in isolation; it’s shaped by our relationships, identities, and the environments we move through. I offer a warm, collaborative space where you can explore your experiences at your own pace.

I also work as an adjunct professor and researcher at the University of Denver Graduate School of Social Work, which keeps me engaged with current trends in mental health and deepens my thinking about care, identity, and systems of power. I often support clients navigating anxiety, depression, self-harm, low self-esteem, trauma, and related challenges, while also recognizing that diagnoses are only one small part of a much larger story. Rather than focusing solely on labels, I center your lived experience and what feels most meaningful and helpful to you.

I draw on approaches such as nature-based, arts-based, and play-based therapies, as well as other experiential practices, and incorporate community spaces like parks, museums, and gardens into sessions when it feels supportive. As a queer-identified therapist, I am especially passionate about working with LGBTQIA+ clients and providing affirming, thoughtful care that honors the complexity and joy of your identities.

Whether you’re navigating a transition, processing a past experience, or seeking new ways to understand yourself, my goal is to support you in building clarity, resilience, and connection in your life.

Therapeutic Modalities

Eco/Nature-Based Therapy

A therapeutic approach that brings the natural world into the healing process. Our nature-based sessions together may take place outdoors, such as in a park or on a hiking trail, or they might include simple practices like noticing our natural surroundings, making art with natural materials, or using nature to reflect on life experiences. Research shows that spending time in and connecting with nature can help people feel more grounded, calm, and connected to themselves.

Arts-Based Therapy

A therapeutic approach that explores thoughts and feelings through creative expression. Our arts-based sessions together may include drawing, painting, collage, clay, poetry, or other art materials. You don’t need to be “good at art” for it to be helpful because the main focus is on the process of creating rather than the final product. Research shows that making art can help people express emotions that are hard to put into words, slow down and reflect, and discover new insights about themselves in a supportive and creative space.

Play-Based Therapy

A therapeutic approach that uses play as a natural way for people (of all ages!) to express themselves and work through emotions. Instead of relying solely on conversation, our play-based sessions together may include activities like games, imaginative play, storytelling, or using toys. Research shows that play can help people communicate feelings, experiences, and worries that may be difficult to put into words. In this way, play can become a way to explore emotions, build coping skills, and make sense of life experiences.

Therapeutic Outings

Therapeutic sessions held in local community spaces such as parks, the Denver Art Museum, the Denver Botanic Gardens, hiking trails, or other calming environments. Instead of meeting only in an office, we can spend time in places that support reflection, curiosity, and connection. Being in these spaces can help people feel more relaxed, spark new perspectives, and create new opportunities to talk, observe, and engage with the world in meaningful ways. These outings help make therapy feel more dynamic and experiential while still providing a supportive space to explore emotions, challenges, and growth.

LGBTQIA+/Gender Affirming Therapy

I provide a supportive therapeutic space for people of all sexual orientations, gender identities, and gender expressions to explore their experiences and well-being. My therapeutic approach recognizes that identity, relationships, and mental health are shaped by social and political contexts. I focus on affirming who you are while also supporting you in navigating challenges, building resilience, and strengthening self-understanding. This can include exploring identity, relationships, gender expression, and ways to cultivate a sense of authenticity, safety, and belonging. Queer and trans existence and joy are celebrated rather than pathologized!
