Frequently Asked Questions

For a one-hour therapy session, my rate is $180. For a two-hour therapy session, which may be beneficial when we go on a therapeutic outing, or if you need more time to process, my rate is $300. I offer a sliding scale for a limited number of clients. Sliding scale pricing is intended to make therapy more accessible to clients with fewer resources by offering a lower hourly rate. Please indicate your interest in a sliding scale rate when you contact me.

I do not accept insurance at this time. However, I can offer a sliding scale for a limited number of clients based on financial need. Please indicate your interest in a sliding scale rate when you contact me.

I only offer virtual therapy for existing clients who may need to temporarily meet virtually due to illness, travel, or other life circumstances. I believe we benefit most from therapy when we are in space together, and given the modalities I offer, in-person tends to be the best fit.

To get started, please reach out through my contact page or email me directly at mossandclaytherapy@outlook.com. I typically respond within 48 hours via email to schedule a brief introductory call. During the call, I’ll ask what you’re hoping to gain from therapy and share a bit about myself and my therapeutic approach. Together, we’ll determine if we’re a good fit for each other. Following the call, I can schedule you (or your loved one) for weekly or bi-weekly therapy sessions. During the initial session, I will spend time getting to know you, your therapeutic goals, and any information you think is important for me to know as we work together. For children and teens, I typically invite parents/guardians to join the first 15-20 minutes of the initial therapy session to gather any important information.

I'm typically available from 12-5 pm MT on Monday through Thursday. Due to my other responsibilities as an adjunct professor and researcher, I tend to maintain a smaller case load of therapy clients, and my availability may shift accordingly. During our initial call, I will share my current availability to schedule your first session. If my caseload is full at the time of our call, I will offer to add you to my waitlist and provide an estimate of when we can start working together.
-
Please note that if your session is not canceled within 24 hours of our scheduled time, you will be charged the full amount of my hourly rate. I know that life gets busy, so I typically allow one late cancellation at no charge, but any subsequent late cancellations will be charged the full amount. Please reach out to me via text, phone, or email to reschedule or cancel your appointment as soon as possible.

I love meeting clients in the community to connect more holistically with nature and art. We will typically plan a therapeutic outing during a regular in-office session for the following session. Together, we will select the location based on your comfort level. For example, meeting at the Denver Botanic Gardens or the Denver Art Museum (you will not be expected to cover any entrance costs). If we were to meet at the Botanic Gardens, for example, we would meet at the front entrance and enter together. From there, we will mindfully walk through a designated section, talk through what is coming up for you that week, and/or do a therapeutic activity aligned with your goals. At the end of our 1 or 2-hour session, we will leave separately from the outing location. For children and teens, I will wait till your parent/guardian picks you up. All outings tend to follow a similar pattern but vary greatly depending on you and your therapeutic goals. Therapeutic outings are not required for us to work together, and require prep work in the office before we plan to meet somewhere new. Additional liability forms must be signed before we start any adventures!

No! There are no requirements or expectations for our time together in therapy. If you are not comfortable going into nature or anywhere else in the community, we don’t have to incorporate it into our time together. My goal is to work with you to find activities that best fit your needs, therapeutic goals, and comfort level. Additionally, if nature or therapeutic outings are not accessible to you due to disability or illness, we can work together to incorporate those elements into our time in the office.
